CNC Millers / CNC Turners

X-Cel Superturn Ltd, established in 1984, is a manufacturer of high specification component parts and assemblies, based within the inspiring Advanced Manufacturing Park with neighbours including McLaren, Boeing and Rolls Royce.  

We are going through a period of expansion, and in order to maintain our full order book, we are proactively looking to build our own talent pool of skilled machinists, who we can recruit as we continue to grow, as & when vacancies arise.  You will be employed on a permanent, full time day shift basis.  Opportunities to work on afternoon (night) shifts, may be available to senior operators, dependent on experience & our business needs.

You would be required to effectively program, set and operate the CNC machine in order to produce orders on time and to the required high quality standards.  These roles would suit qualified engineers looking to develop and progress.  

 

Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Machining exotic materials e.g. 625,718, using FANUC 32i control system
  • Able to understand complex engineering drawings
  • Able to set complex jobs in a timely manner
  • Able to modify existing programs
  • Create simple programs from scratch in a timely manner
  • Use measuring equipment and basic CMM
  • Implement minor and suggest major tooling changes
  • Suggest process changes to engineering department
  • Assist and instruct others
  • Loading varying size components into the machines competently
  • Monitoring long cycle times
  • Take full responsibility for the machines and area around them
  • Uphold health and Safety, environmental and quality policies
  • Flexible approach to work, and willing to support colleagues

 

Person Description:

 

Our successful candidate must have:

  • NVQ 3 or equivalent in engineering - ideally apprentice-trained
  • Strong work ethic
  • Willingness and ability to follow management directions to achieve results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time keeping skills
  • Enthusiasm and desire to learn
  • Ability to work alone and part of a team

 

Hours & Remuneration:

Day shift: Monday-Thursday 07:00-16:00, Friday 07:00-12:00

£ highly competitive hourly rate + overtime paid weekly

30 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays)

Deep Hole Borer

 

X-Cel Superturn Ltd is a manufacturer of high specification component parts and assemblies based in Rotherham.  Established in 1984, our privately owned award-winning company is expanding.  We are pleased to release the following brand new opportunity to join our valued team –

This is a permanent, full time opportunity for an experienced Deep Hole Borer, required to effectively program, set and operate this machine in order to produce orders on time and to the required high quality standards. 

 

Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

This role is to set and operate a range of deep hole boring machines, running 1-6" bores on long products to customer specifications and sometimes finish machining drawings within the agreed cycle time.

  • On a daily basis, review the machine work to list and ensure all tooling and material is available to support the schedule
  • Identify and highlight any potential problems which will affect the schedule, such as routing/tooling/allocated time etc
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement of manufacturing methods to increase the effectiveness and efficiency within the operation
  • Perform "in process inspection checks" and ensure that all paperwork is correctly completed before passing on to the next stage
  • Ensure on an ongoing basis, that the machine is running within performance parameters without compromising Health and Safety/Quality/Output
  • Ensure that high levels of housekeeping are maintained within your work area.
  • Take full responsibility for the machines and area around them
  • Uphold health and Safety, environmental and quality policies
  • Flexible approach to work, and willing to support colleagues

 

Person Description:

Our successful candidate must have:

Experienced Deep Hole Borer with an in-depth knowledge and experience of machining long products in a precision engineering environment.

- Ability to read engineering drawings and accurately measure components using a variety of measuring equipment and gauges

- NVQ 3 or equivalent in Engineering

Location of role:

Our Deep Hole Boring & Honing team are currently located in Atlas, Sheffield 4 but from approx. mid 2019 will be relocated to be based within our partner’s site in Rotherham – a 5 minute drive from M1 J34)

 

Hours & Remuneration:

39 hours per week plus overtime

EITHER permanent ‘Afternoon’ shift OR 1 week rotation (to suit)

 

Hours for standard Day shift:

Mon to Fri (workshop open Mon-Thurs 06:00–18:00, Friday 06:00-13:00, to include a 20 or 30 minute unpaid break)

 

Hours for ‘Afternoon’ shift:

Mon - Thurs 16:00 – 02:20/02:30 (includes a 20 or 30-minute unpaid break)

Vertical Boring Machinist Location: Vector House, S60 1FB (close to M1 J34) Ref No:

Shift pattern: Mixed shifts (mix of days/nights)

We are looking for CNC Horizontal Borer/Milling machinists to join our Rotherham-based team. Our ideal candidates will have experience in the engineering industry and already have in depth knowledge of the Boring/Milling process.  

Essential experience:

  • Apprentice-trained (preferred)
  • Capable of proving out and editing CNC programs
  • Experienced in working on high precision safety critical components using nickel alloy materials
  • Ability to use overhead cranes and slings
  • Competent using Fanuc and Siemens controls
  • Use of Facing/Contouring Heads is preferred, but not essential

Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Elland, West Yorkshire Ref No:
Job Description:

We are pleased to release a brand new opportunity for an experienced Design Engineer to join our existing team of seven design engineers.

The role involves working on six new product developments that we are looking to bring to market in 2019 as well as supporting the team with project engineering.

Colson X-Cel Ltd are in a very large and fast growth phase and we require an experienced person to help increase the rate of growth.

Knowledge of Ball or other valves is essential in order to slot into the programme as smoothly as possible.

Ideally degree qualified.

A Design Engineer is expected to have strong problem solving skills, capable of coming up with creative approaches for generating new ideas and improving existing processes or products in the unit.

A professional skill level in the use of CAD and Inventor software is expected, using engineering and design principles to maximise output.
