CNC Millers / CNC Turners

X-Cel Superturn Ltd, established in 1984, is a manufacturer of high specification component parts and assemblies, based within the inspiring Advanced Manufacturing Park with neighbours including McLaren, Boeing and Rolls Royce.  

We are going through a period of expansion, and in order to maintain our full order book, we are proactively looking to build our own talent pool of skilled machinists, who we can recruit as we continue to grow, as & when vacancies arise.  You will be employed on a permanent, full time day shift basis.  Opportunities to work on afternoon (night) shifts, may be available to senior operators, dependent on experience & our business needs.

You would be required to effectively program, set and operate the CNC machine in order to produce orders on time and to the required high quality standards.  These roles would suit qualified engineers looking to develop and progress.  

 

Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Machining exotic materials e.g. 625,718, using FANUC 32i control system
  • Able to understand complex engineering drawings
  • Able to set complex jobs in a timely manner
  • Able to modify existing programs
  • Create simple programs from scratch in a timely manner
  • Use measuring equipment and basic CMM
  • Implement minor and suggest major tooling changes
  • Suggest process changes to engineering department
  • Assist and instruct others
  • Loading varying size components into the machines competently
  • Monitoring long cycle times
  • Take full responsibility for the machines and area around them
  • Uphold health and Safety, environmental and quality policies
  • Flexible approach to work, and willing to support colleagues

 

Person Description:

 

Our successful candidate must have:

  • NVQ 3 or equivalent in engineering - ideally apprentice-trained
  • Strong work ethic
  • Willingness and ability to follow management directions to achieve results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time keeping skills
  • Enthusiasm and desire to learn
  • Ability to work alone and part of a team

 

Hours & Remuneration:

Day shift: Monday-Thursday 07:00-16:00, Friday 07:00-12:00

£ highly competitive hourly rate + overtime paid weekly

30 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays)

Job Description:

Machine Shop Quality Inspector

 

X-Cel Superturn Ltd is a manufacturer of high specification component parts and assemblies, based within the prestigious Advanced Manufacturing Park with neighbours including McLaren and Rolls Royce.  Established in 1984, our privately owned award-winning company is expanding. 

Due to an increased order book and securing new contracts, we are expanding our quality inspection team.  We require an experienced machine shop inspector for a permanent day shift position.

You will play a pivotal role within our business and will be encouraged to make improvements including quality control, modernisation and automation where possible.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to -

  • Completing computerised customer inspection reports
  • Using CNC CMM machines and FARO arms
  • Carrying out first-off inspections at the machines
  • Using a range of manual measuring equipment ie, micrometers, verniers, thread gauges
  • Managing inspection reports
  • Inspecting medium to large components
  • Calibration
  • Implement method/setting sheets for CMM programs
  • Oversee & investigate internal rejects through to completion
  • Manage customer witness inspection visits
  • Complete patrol inspections while CMM is running
  • Implement and learn offline CMM programming, develop the use of 3D models
  • Inspection plan for new jobs, checking we have the necessary measuring equipment
  • Generally plan and organise the inspection department and equipment
  • Implement 5S with support from the Quality Manager
  • Mentor new inspectors, oversee the training of apprentices on the inspection department

 

This is a regular day shift position working 39 hours per week with an early finish on Fridays.

Quality Assurance Engineer Location: Head Office (AMP - close to M1/J33) Ref No:
Job Description:

 

Due to continued expansion, we are looking to appoint a Quality Engineer who will report to the Quality Manager and be responsible for assisting in the development, communication and maintenance of the company’s integrated ISO 9001, ISO45001 and ISO 14001 management system. 

In addition the successful candidate, in consultation with the Quality Manager and Operations Director will take responsibility for the co-ordination of process improvement initiatives and associated changes in relation to effective management of the system.

 

Key responsibilities include: -

  • Driving improvement in the business KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) through robust Root Cause/Corrective Action tools and techniques
  • Be the liaison between QA, Process owners, customers and suppliers to identify and implement actions to reduce process/system errors
  • Participate in/lead internal audits
  • Investigation of customer complaints, internal and supplier non-conformities adopting the A3 approach
  • Working with process owners to update, upload and distribute Integrated Management System documents to the company shared directory/intranet and notifying the team via email
  • Gathering, analysis and presentation of management system data to the management team
  • Identification and reporting of positive and negative trends
  • Supporting QHSE committees, their organization and communications
  • Promoting a positive QHSE culture and a culture of continuous improvement
Person Description:

 

Essential

  • Quality Systems training/experience
  • Proven track record in continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of a range of engineering practices
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access

Desirable

  • Experience in Oil & Gas QHSE Management Systems
  • Auditing qualification/experience
  • Knowledge of Factory Master
  • Good presentation skills

 

Educational Requirements

  • Ideally a graduate (or of graduate calibre) within an Engineering discipline or qualified by extensive experience in the field
  • Strong IT skills
  • High level of numeracy and literacy
