Job Description:

CNC Millers / CNC Turners

X-Cel Superturn Ltd, established in 1984, is a manufacturer of high specification component parts and assemblies, based within the inspiring Advanced Manufacturing Park with neighbours including McLaren, Boeing and Rolls Royce.  

We are going through a period of expansion, and in order to maintain our full order book, we are proactively looking to build our own talent pool of skilled machinists, who we can recruit as we continue to grow, as & when vacancies arise.  You will be employed on a permanent, full time day shift basis.  Opportunities to work on afternoon (night) shifts, may be available to senior operators, dependent on experience & our business needs.

You would be required to effectively program, set and operate the CNC machine in order to produce orders on time and to the required high quality standards.  These roles would suit qualified engineers looking to develop and progress.  

 

Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Machining exotic materials e.g. 625,718, using FANUC 32i control system
  • Able to understand complex engineering drawings
  • Able to set complex jobs in a timely manner
  • Able to modify existing programs
  • Create simple programs from scratch in a timely manner
  • Use measuring equipment and basic CMM
  • Implement minor and suggest major tooling changes
  • Suggest process changes to engineering department
  • Assist and instruct others
  • Loading varying size components into the machines competently
  • Monitoring long cycle times
  • Take full responsibility for the machines and area around them
  • Uphold health and Safety, environmental and quality policies
  • Flexible approach to work, and willing to support colleagues

 

Person Description:

 

Our successful candidate must have:

  • NVQ 3 or equivalent in engineering - ideally apprentice-trained
  • Strong work ethic
  • Willingness and ability to follow management directions to achieve results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time keeping skills
  • Enthusiasm and desire to learn
  • Ability to work alone and part of a team

 

Hours & Remuneration:

Day shift: Monday-Thursday 07:00-16:00, Friday 07:00-12:00

£ highly competitive hourly rate + overtime paid weekly

30 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays)

Job Description:

Vector X-Cel is the UK’s premier manufacturer of high specification component parts and assemblies, supplying across the Defence, Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Aerospace and PowerGen industries.  Vector is proud to offer a high level of manufacturing expertise, combined with an exceptional production facility located in Rotherham (South Yorkshire).  We continue to work in close partnership with our customers to ensure that our bespoke products are delivered to specification through dedicated manufacturing cells.

 

Shift pattern: Mixed shifts (mix of days/nights)

We are looking for CNC Horizontal Borer/Milling machinists to join our Rotherham-based team. Our ideal candidates will have experience in the engineering industry and already have in depth knowledge of the Boring/Milling process.  

Essential experience:

  • Apprentice-trained (preferred)
  • Capable of proving out and editing CNC programs
  • Experienced in working on high precision safety critical components using nickel alloy materials
  • Ability to use overhead cranes and slings
  • Competent using Fanuc and Siemens controls
  • Use of Facing/Contouring Heads is preferred, but not essential

Mechanical CNC Maintenance Engineer Location: X-Cel Superturn, AMP, Rotherham S60 4ER (close to M1/J33) Ref No:
Job Description:

X-Cel Superturn Ltd is a manufacturer of high specification component parts and assemblies, based within the prestigious Advanced Manufacturing Park with neighbours including McLaren and Rolls Royce.  Established in 1984, our privately owned award-winning company is expanding.  We are pleased to release the following brand new opportunity to join our valued team;

This is a permanent, full time role for an experienced Mechanical CNC Maintenance Engineer, required to effectively mend our CNC machinery to ensure they run effectively and any breakdowns are dealt with and fixed with minimum disruption and downtime. 

Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- Solving leaks on the machines & breakdowns

- Checking machine alignments and adjusting

- Identifying, logging, planning and carrying out preventative repairs

- Organising sub-contractors for faults outside your scope of work (Board repairs, etc.)

- Planning in scheduled maintenance with the production team, ordering in parts for the service, completing the service and recording service history details

- Checking the machines are lubricating correctly and maintain lubricant stock level

- Schedule in periodic downtime to clean out the coolant tanks on the machines

- Work at our other sites, Vector (Rotherham) & Colson (Elland, West Yorkshire) if required (transport will be provided or mileage will be paid)

- Help out anywhere else in the highly unlikely event that there is no maintenance to complete

 

Person Description:

You will be contracted to working a 39-hour week - 8 hours per day

Machine Shop Quality Inspector (afternoon shift) Location: Advanced Manufacturing Park, S60 5FS Ref No:
Job Description:

Machine Shop Quality Inspector

 

We are pleased to release a brand new opportunity for an experienced machine shop quality inspector for a permanent ‘afternoon shift’ position, to sit within our valued quality inspection team.

 

You will play a pivotal role within our business and will be encouraged to make improvements including quality control, modernisation and automation where possible.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to -

-               Inspecting medium to large components

-               Managing inspection reports

-               Using a range of manual measuring equipment ie, micrometers, verniers, thread gauges

-               Carrying out first-off inspections at the machines

-               Using CNC CMM machines and FARO arms

-               Completing computerised customer inspection reports

  • Calibration
  • Implement method/setting sheets for CMM programs
  • Oversee & investigate internal rejects through to completion
  • Manage customer witness inspection visits
  • Complete patrol inspections while CMM is running
  • Implement and learn offline CMM programming, develop the use of 3D models
  • Inspection plan for new jobs, checking we have the necessary measuring equipment
  • Generally plan and organise the inspection department and equipment
  • Implement 5S with support from the Quality Manager
  • Mentor new inspectors, oversee the training of apprentices on the inspection department

 

This is a regular ‘afternoon’ shift position working 40 hours per week (Mon-Thurs 16:00-02:30)
